Why Millennials Are Less Likely To Succeed in Their Life | FYU Blogs #8

Millennials are the people who are born in the year 1984 and after. This generation is called the Millennial generation. This generation wants to work and make an impact on the world, which is a good thing. But the thing which is wrong with them is that they wish to results dynamically or instantly. And making an impact on the world takes time. It is a gradual process and does not happen overnight.

Following are the reasons why they are less likely to succeed in their life:

1. Wrong Parenting:

Believe me that it is neither their parents' fault nor their fault. The thing is wrong with parenting because parents try to make their children feel unique. In schools, they get participation certificates even if they come in the last position, which is not appreciable. It devalues the value of certificates for those who came in the first position. But the real world does not operate this way. You do not get an appreciation for making mistakes or coming last.

In this way, they are getting a victim of such things, which will later cause them to be unsatisfied and question the real world things. Parenting is the most primary and fundamental thing, but many people fail to grow their children in the exact way the real world operates on.

2. Technology:

We all are living in the age of technological revolution. Every day some new technology is being found replacing the older traditional things. With this revolutionizing thing, it brings some of its effect on people; many results. Some of them are good, but some of them are costing these millennials their fortune.

Now you would probably be wondering how technology is affecting you and costing you your fortune. Now think that what is the first thing that you did after waking up. Most of you will realize that you checked your mobile phone. That the role of technology and how it is affecting you.

In the current age of social media like Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, people knowingly or unknowingly are looking for other people's approval. The approval in the form of the number of likes on their posts on these social media apps. It releases a hormone called Dopamine. This is the same hormone that gets released when people smoke or drink alcohol. Dopamine gives people a sense of joy and pleasure. And doing activities that release dopamine repeatedly can cause you to get addicted to such action. That's what is happening with you and most of the millennials in technology and, more specifically, with social media platforms.

People posts their posts of being happy and having a joyful life. But the important thing is are they are really living a charmed life. Most people fake their lifestyle on social media. They need such activities which can get them that kind of lifestyle.

3. Impatience:

As discussed in the above part, these millennials want to impact the world. Nothing is wrong with it. But the thing which is wrong with the millennials is that they are impatient. They lack patience.

Rome wasn't built in a day, but Hiroshima was destroyed in some hours.

This generation of millennials wants to make a difference in a short period. The thing that they do not understand is that such things take time. They start trying things, and when they do not see any result, they get frustrated and give up doing that thing.

Millennials are the generation that needs an instant result. All these because of technology. As discussed in the earlier part, they are more attached to their mobile phone and social media statistics based on the number of likes and comments on their posts. Because of this, they are triggered by dopamine. And because of it, they start swiping up on their mobile phones whenever they want some pleasure or instant gratification.

The particular addiction to social media for instant gratification has caused impatience in them. That's the reason why they want instant gratification in every field of their life. So when they failed to achieve it in some area, they get demotivated or feel like giving up. Because of it, the attention span of millennials is significantly less. And because of less attention span, they cannot focus on a single thing for a long time. And no doubt this is costing them their fortune.

4. Environment:

The environment is the most crucial factor in the growth of this millennial generation. The environment in which they grow up decides the thinking pattern and their belief systems.

As discussed in the above part, millennials were told that they are unique and can get what they want. And their whole childhood was built on this statement that they are special. But the problem occurs when they get exposure to the real-world situation. They can get what they want. But the thing which is different from here is that they need to work hard for it. That particular thing will not show up to them all because they wanted it. And when millennials get to know this thing, they realize their whole childhood was built on a false statement.

The surroundings were made in such a way that they felt comfortable there. Even in school, these millennials were spoon-fed for their studies and every academic thing. But when they face the real-world after their education, they get to know the truth about the real-life and the facts on which it operates. At that instance, they are so used to be comfortable in their comfort zone that it is so hard for them to step out of it. That's why they are less likely to succeed in the real-world.
